!st time Monad Shoal early morning looking for Thresher Sharks Beautiful sunrise 35 minute boat ride, parked on buoy, drop to 50 ft , 100 m swim to shoal/ wall. Looking to deep water saw 1st shark from distance only. Second shark up into our artea, a couple turns and disappear. Third shark up to top of shoal 2-3 turns, cleaning and then off to North. 3RD SHARK WAS THE LARGEST. Also saw juvenile Whitetip Shark swim by just before 3rd Thresher. Amazing experience, decent pics and videos.

The world famous Monad Shoal. Probably the best site in the world to see thresher sharks. They come up from their usual deep water home to be cleaned on a plateau by cleaner wrasse. The cleaners eat the dead skin and parasites as the sharks glide past. We saw about ten individuals up to 8m in length including one that swam about a metre over my head. They have beautiful big black eyes belying their killer nature. Fabulous creatures.

First time at Monad, to see the Thresher sharks! We saw them, awesomeeee! Also a nice big fish as soon as we entered the water, and many sea stars. Monad is a submerged island, we enter the water on its top and go down to 25-30 meters on the wall, to arrive to the cleaning points were the sharks go every morning to get cleaned by small fishes. The sharks will then go back deep into the sea.
